Organizational Context

UNICEF in the Democratic Republic of Congo supports the government and partners in realizing children's rights through improved access to essential services, strengthened national systems, strategic data use, and digital innovation. Digital transformation is key to enhancing operational efficiency, program quality, accountability, and data-driven decision-making. The National UN Volunteer will support the Digital Impact team in identifying, designing, developing, deploying, and adopting digital solutions, primarily using Microsoft Power Platform, aligned with UNICEF's programmatic and operational priorities.

Job Purpose

The National UN Volunteer will support the Digital Impact team in the Democratic Republic of Congo to drive digital transformation initiatives. This involves identifying needs, designing, developing, deploying, and ensuring the adoption of digital solutions, with a focus on Microsoft Power Platform. The role aims to improve operational efficiency, program quality, accountability, and data-driven decision-making within UNICEF's operations. The volunteer will contribute to the digitalization of priority processes, enhancing service delivery and strengthening national systems for children's rights realization, aligning with UNICEF's strategic objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Chief Digital Impact and direct supervision of the designated focal point, the National UN Volunteer will contribute to the digitalization of priority processes. This includes designing appropriate solutions, documenting needs, automating workflows, building user capacity, and supporting tool adoption. Key duties involve developing and deploying business applications using PowerApps, creating user-friendly interfaces, and integrating with Microsoft 365 tools like SharePoint Online and Microsoft Lists. The volunteer will also automate processes using Power Automate to simplify validation circuits, notifications, and information exchange, optimizing workflows and reporting. Additionally, they will support units in developing business cases, documenting user requirements, and drafting functional specifications, proposing scalable and secure solutions. User training, production of guides, and first-level technical support are also integral parts of the role, ensuring effective adoption and continuous improvement of deployed solutions.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of 3 years of professional experience, including practical experience in application development with Microsoft PowerApps and proficiency in Power Automate, SharePoint Online, or similar tools. Experience in process digitalization, user needs analysis, functional documentation, and user support is essential. Technical skills should include a strong command of Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate) and Microsoft 365, with the ability to integrate data sources and document processing flows. Familiarity with Dataverse, connectors, or APIs is desirable.
