Job Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to significantly contribute to UNICEF DRC's mission of realizing child rights by enhancing digital transformation initiatives. The UN National Volunteer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Digital Impact team. This involves actively participating in the identification, design, development, deployment, and adoption of innovative digital solutions. These solutions will primarily leverage the Microsoft Power Platform, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's core programmatic and operational priorities. The volunteer's work will be instrumental in improving operational efficiency, elevating program quality, strengthening accountability mechanisms, and fostering a robust culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization. This ultimately supports the strategic use of data and digital innovation to reinforce national systems and expand access to essential services for children in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Digital Impact, the National UN Volunteer will be responsible for a range of data-centric tasks crucial for UNICEF DRC's digital transformation. Key duties include Data Management and Quality, where the volunteer will structure and organize databases, meticulously clean, harmonize, and standardize data, and implement robust best practices for data governance to ensure accuracy and reliability. In Data Analysis, the volunteer will produce comprehensive descriptive and exploratory analyses, identify critical trends, deviations, and key insights, and provide essential support to various teams in interpreting complex data sets for informed decision-making. For Visualization and Reporting, responsibilities involve developing interactive and insightful dashboards using Power BI, establishing clear performance indicators, and designing dynamic monitoring tools to track program progress effectively. The role also entails significant Program Support, translating business requirements into actionable indicators, assisting with the collection and structuring of field data, and actively reinforcing a strong culture of data-driven decision-making across all programmatic areas. Finally, the volunteer will contribute to Documentation and Training by developing comprehensive data management guides and standards, conducting training sessions for users on data analysis and visualization techniques, and ensuring effective knowledge transfer to build internal capacity.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience (4 years relevant experience) is required in data analysis, advanced Excel, Power BI, and database management. Proficiency in office and analytical tools, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI, along with data management, structuring, and visualization tools, is essential. Desirable assets include experience with SQL, Python or R, and Dataverse.
