Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation, adaptation, and strengthening of the Urban TB Strategy within the "Strengthening the Integrated and Sustainable TB/HIV Response in Bolivia" project. The volunteer will analyze information, identify gaps, monitor interventions, and generate evidence for decision-making in coordination with the National Program for Infectious Diseases and sub-national actors. The objective is to contribute to reducing the burden of tuberculosis and its social determinants through multisectoral efforts, respecting human rights and improving the quality of life for affected populations.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will conduct a diagnosis of the TB situation within the Urban Strategy framework and develop a regional operational plan. Key tasks include supporting the implementation, monitoring, and adaptation of the Urban Strategy and Continuous Quality Improvement Cycles. The volunteer will identify programmatic and operational gaps in urban settings, develop differentiated actions based on local contexts, and monitor key TB indicators. Responsibilities also involve analyzing data for programmatic decisions, generating technical reports, and contributing to active case-finding strategies. Additionally, the role includes improving access to diagnosis and treatment, supporting targeted actions for vulnerable populations, coordinating with national and sub-national health entities, and participating in technical meetings.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of general work experience in health-related fields is required. Specific experience of at least three years in tuberculosis programs or public health programs is necessary. Desirable knowledge includes national TB regulations, public health programs, epidemiological surveillance, health indicator management, and specific areas of TB, such as drug-resistant TB, adverse drug reactions, and special cases like TB-HIV, diabetes, and childhood TB.
