Job Purpose
The UNDP seeks a Logistics Management Professional to support the National Program for Infectious Diseases in Bolivia. This role is critical for strengthening the supply chain of essential medicines and supplies for HIV and TB programs, addressing challenges like delayed diagnosis, treatment adherence, and access barriers. The professional will provide specialized technical assistance in logistics, inventory monitoring, distribution, and coordination with health facilities. The objective is to ensure the timely availability of critical medical resources, improve health outcomes, and contribute to the sustainable control of HIV and TB epidemics in the country, thereby supporting human development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the National Program for Infectious Diseases by:
- Developing and updating supply plans for antiretroviral drugs, diagnostics, and strategic supplies based on consumption and projected needs.
- Assisting in quantifying, programming, and estimating national logistics requirements, identifying stock-out risks, and proposing mitigation measures.
- Continuously monitoring inventory levels, stock, monthly consumption, and product rotation across the service network.
- Analyzing and validating logistics information from departmental programs and health facilities, generating early warnings for stock issues.
- Coordinating and tracking the distribution of medicines and supplies from the central level to departmental health services and facilities.
- Verifying the accuracy of programming, dispatch, and reception of products, and participating in inter-departmental redistribution planning.
- Contributing to the implementation and monitoring of Good Storage Practices (GSP), including storage conditions and expiry date management (FEFO).
- Systematizing, consolidating, and analyzing logistics data from national and sub-national systems, preparing periodic technical reports.
- Generating evidence-based inputs for programmatic decision-making and supporting redistribution strategies to prevent product expiry and loss.
- Articulating operations with relevant national programs, health services, and implementing partners, and participating in technical coordination meetings.
- Supporting training on logistics management and contributing to the standardization of logistics procedures.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical management, health logistics, supply chain, or related areas. Specific experience of at least three years in medical supply chain management, procurement, distribution, inventory control, warehouse management, and good storage practices is highly desirable. Experience working with international cooperation projects or externally funded programs for at least one year is also beneficial.
