Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer assignment supports UN Women Sudan's Women, Peace and Security (WPS) portfolio, aiming to enhance women's participation in peacebuilding and support women-led initiatives. The role is crucial for advancing the WPS agenda in a challenging conflict context where demand for peacebuilding support exceeds current capacity. The Associate will provide programmatic and administrative support to systematically promote women's leadership in peacebuilding, working with various stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of activities aligned with strategic goals and donor projects, contributing to monitoring, reporting, and overall programme coherence.
Responsibilities
The Women, Peace and Security Associate will provide programmatic support for programme formulation, management, and partner relations, including work plans, budgets, proposals, and implementation arrangements. This involves drafting Terms of Reference, monitoring tracking tools, assisting in report preparation, and supporting training activities for stakeholders. The role also entails preparing for audits, managing agreements with implementing partners, and documenting meeting minutes. Financial management support includes tracking resource utilization, following up on partner reporting, processing fund transfers, creating projects in PRISM, and monitoring budgets. Administrative support covers logistical arrangements for events, preparing public information materials, and processing payments. Additionally, the Associate will support resource mobilization efforts by preparing agreements and compiling information from various sources, and facilitate knowledge building by synthesizing lessons learned and supporting the dissemination of knowledge products.
Work Experience
Requires three years of relevant professional experience in areas such as women's empowerment, peacebuilding, governance, mediation, leadership training, or programme coordination. Experience with civil society organizations, women-led groups, or UN/international development programmes is desirable. Essential skills include supporting programme implementation, strong drafting and reporting abilities, effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
