The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Mexico is developing the Common Country Analysis (CCA), a key strategic document identifying development trends, challenges, and opportunities. The CCA informs the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and is updated with integrated data. The RCO aims to enhance analytical products using advanced data visualization and AI tools for better decision-making.
Job Purpose
The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Mexico is developing the Common Country Analysis (CCA), a crucial strategic document that outlines the country's development landscape, including trends, challenges, risks, and opportunities. This analysis forms the foundation for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The RCO seeks to enhance its analytical capabilities by developing interactive Power BI solutions. This involves integrating advanced data visualization, analytics, and artificial intelligence tools to improve the exploration, interpretation, and communication of complex information, ultimately supporting evidence-based decision-making within the UN system in Mexico.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will support the RCO in Mexico by developing interactive Power BI products for the Common Country Analysis (CCA), thereby strengthening analytical and data visualization capacities. Key duties include designing, developing, and optimizing interactive dashboards and analytical products that integrate data from various national and international sources. This involves creating and maintaining data models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations, ensuring high standards of data quality, performance, and usability. The role also entails exploring and integrating emerging AI tools like Microsoft Copilot, Fabric, and Azure AI to enhance data analysis and visualization. The volunteer will help translate analytical needs into user-friendly visualizations, document methodologies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the CCA analytical platform, potentially undertaking other related technical tasks as required.
Work Experience
Required experience includes advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI (Power Query, data modeling, DAX, optimization, visualization) and demonstrated experience developing complex, interactive analytical dashboards. Experience integrating AI tools into Power BI is also required. Desired experience includes data analysis for international organizations, knowledge of the UN system and SDGs, experience with national statistical data sources, and familiarity with SQL, Python, or R.
Skills
Key skills include advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including Power Query, data modeling, DAX, and advanced data visualization. Experience with integrating AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Fabric, Azure AI) into Power BI is essential. Strong data analysis, management, and transformation capabilities are required, along with the ability to design effective visualizations for decision-making and strategic communication.
