Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as a global development network, aims to promote gender equality and foster development and experience exchange among countries. In Mauritania, despite ratifying conventions like CEDAW and committing to SDG 5 on gender equality, persistent inequalities across political, economic, legal, social, and cultural domains hinder sustainable development. These imbalances prevent women, over half the population, from fully participating in the country's growth. The UNDP Mauritania office seeks to address these challenges.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to significantly improve the UNDP Mauritania Country Office's oversight, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting capabilities. The National UN Volunteer will be crucial in ensuring the quality, appropriate format, and timely submission of reports across all projects, with a particular focus on donor reporting requirements. Key responsibilities include meticulous collection of indicator data, thorough proofreading, cross-verification of information, and providing essential support for the final formatting of all reports. Furthermore, the volunteer will manage the planning and scheduling of internal and external reporting deadlines and maintain a comprehensive archive of all pertinent documents on SharePoint. The UNDP Mauritania office seeks a dynamic and motivated young professional who can contribute to the development of high-quality, results-oriented reports, thereby strengthening the office's accountability and transparency.

The UN Volunteer will be based in Nouakchott, working under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Support Unit Head. Key responsibilities include: Reporting and Data Management: Collect program results data from field and central program officers. Ensure all relevant documents are archived on SharePoint. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Review the quality of content and format for all project and donor reports before submission, ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements. Support the monitoring of the Country Office's adherence to Project Quality Assurance and Environmental and Social Standards by tracking relevant organizational dashboards. Platform Updates and Support: Provide support for reporting on the UN Country Framework and update data on the UNINFO platform for UNDP. Ensure data is updated on the UNDP monitoring and evaluation platform. Assist program officers in updating project indicator data on Quantum, Quantum+, and M&E 2.0 platforms. Report Preparation and Evaluation Support: Support the preparation of the Results-Oriented Analytical Report (ROAR). Provide assistance in conducting project and program evaluations. The overall objective is to strengthen the office's oversight capacity, particularly in project, results, and donor reporting. This involves reviewing detailed work plans and examining donor document content and format, including proofreading, data verification, and formatting, ensuring clarity, adherence to UNDP terminology and branding, grammatical and factual accuracy, and consistency with proposals and budgets.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required in one or more of the following areas: monitoring and evaluation, program and project management, multi-donor report writing, or auditing. Candidates must have full proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, along with knowledge of online platforms and data collection tools such as Kobotoolbox.
Skills
Key competencies include integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of accountability, coupled with a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability. The role requires excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to manage a high volume of work, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively under pressure with tight deadlines. Strong teamwork and respect for diversity are essential, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multicultural environments and integrate gender perspectives.
