Job Purpose
This Online Volunteer assignment supports the UNOCHA Afghanistan Information Management and Public Information Unit by providing essential video editing and multimedia production for digital communication and social media. The role is crucial for enhancing UNOCHA's outreach and engagement in a complex humanitarian context. The volunteer will contribute to raising awareness about the ongoing crises, including insecurity and natural disasters, and the humanitarian response efforts. By creating engaging video content, the volunteer will help communicate key messages, statistics, and the impact of humanitarian aid, thereby supporting partnerships and the overall coordination of humanitarian action in Afghanistan.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will provide video editing and multimedia production support for UNOCHA Afghanistan's digital communication and social media platforms. Key duties include editing 2-4 short videos (approx. 1 minute each) per month, creating animated videos and data visualizations from reports and statistics, and adapting content for various platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram. The volunteer will develop and adapt video content in English, Dari, and Pashto, ensuring high-quality audio, visual consistency, and clear storytelling. Responsibilities also involve timely delivery of edited content according to publication schedules and strict adherence to UNOCHA's branding and visual identity guidelines.
Work Experience
The assignment requires proven experience in video editing, animation, and multimedia production. Proficiency in video editing and animation software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Adobe After Effects is essential. Familiarity with AI-assisted creative tools and UN branding/visual identity guidelines is considered an asset.
Skills
Required skills include proficiency in video editing and animation software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects), ability to produce clean, engaging, and audience-appropriate video and animated content, strong attention to detail, quality assurance capabilities, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
