Job Purpose
The Information and Outreach Officer UN Volunteer will significantly enhance the visibility and accessibility of the Health Financing and Governance Team's work within the WHO Regional Office for Africa. This role is critical for supporting an expanded portfolio of multi-country initiatives from 2026 onwards, which will increase the volume of technical, analytical, and advocacy outputs. The volunteer will strengthen digital communication efforts, improve the visual presentation of technical documents, and ensure that all communication products align with WHO standards, thereby supporting Member States more effectively through clear and professionally designed materials.
Responsibilities
The Information and Outreach Officer will support the development, drafting, editing, and proofreading of various communication products, including policy briefs, reports, presentations, and web content. A key duty involves translating complex technical information on health financing and governance into clear, audience-appropriate materials. The role includes designing and formatting reports, fact sheets, and presentations to meet WHO branding and accessibility standards. Additionally, the volunteer will develop visual content such as infographics and charts, support digital communication activities for websites and social media, and document visibility for meetings and events. Collaboration with technical staff for input collection, quality control, and timely delivery of outputs is essential.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience is required at the national and/or international level in communications, graphic design, journalism, public health, or international relations. Experience with graphic design and working within the UN or other international development organizations is considered an asset. Proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with Adobe Suite, UI/UX, and collaborative design tools are necessary. Excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills are essential.
