Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will provide crucial program and coordination support within the UNICEF Suriname Office, which is undergoing a transition to a Multi-Country Office (MCO) structure. This role is vital for maintaining program continuity and strengthening UNICEF's capacity to deliver equitable results for children and adolescents across the region during this organizational change. The volunteer will contribute to program implementation, partnership coordination, knowledge management, monitoring, and operational support, working collaboratively with various stakeholders to advance child rights and social development initiatives.
Responsibilities
Support the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of UNICEF program activities across various sectors, with a strong emphasis on education. This includes activities related to Early Childhood Development (ECD), education policy, foundational learning, and data management. The role involves contributing to program planning, stakeholder coordination, data collection and interpretation, and preparing technical and policy documents. Additionally, the UN Volunteer will assist in organizing meetings and consultations with government counterparts and partners. The position also requires supporting knowledge management by organizing reports, research, and program documents, maintaining databases, documenting lessons learned, and facilitating cross-country knowledge sharing. Furthermore, the volunteer will aid in collecting, organizing, and analyzing program data for end-of-year reporting and supporting situation reports (SITREPS) for emerging focus areas like migration and emergencies.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required. This should include experience working with government institutions, civil society organizations, youth groups, or international organizations, and supporting multi-sectoral programs. Experience in data collection, reporting, documentation, or knowledge management is desirable. Familiarity with issues related to equity, inclusion, child rights, gender equality, climate resilience, or digital innovation is advantageous. International experience in education programs or policy development is highly desirable.
