Support Implementation of the Caribbean Communications Strategy
Organizational Context
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme promotes peace and development globally through volunteerism. UNV advocates for volunteers, integrates volunteerism into development, and mobilizes diverse volunteers. The UNV Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) is implementing a communications strategy for the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean to enhance UNV's visibility and positioning as a talent solution. This role supports the strategy's implementation due to capacity constraints.
Job Purpose
This role supports the strategic coordination, monitoring, and implementation of the UNV Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean's (ROLAC) communications strategy for the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. The objective is to increase awareness of UNV among potential candidates, position UNV as a strategic talent solution for UN entities, and highlight the contributions of volunteers across the subregion. The volunteer will work closely with the Regional Communications Team and manage a small team of Online Volunteers focused on editorial writing and graphic design, ensuring the effective execution of communication activities.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the UNV ROLAC Communications team, the Online Volunteer will coordinate and implement the Caribbean Communications and Brand Positioning Strategy and its Action Plan. This includes managing three Online Volunteers responsible for editorial writing and graphic design. The role involves supporting the development and dissemination of communication products to enhance UNV's visibility and engagement in the Caribbean. Responsibilities also include maintaining a tracking system for communications products, reviewing content for quality and alignment with the strategy, and liaising with UNV focal points to gather inputs and facilitate content collection. The volunteer will monitor progress, document achievements and challenges, and contribute to monthly progress updates and a final summary report.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a background in communications, strategic storytelling, content coordination, or related fields. Strong organizational and project management skills are essential. The ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and collaborate effectively in virtual environments is also necessary. Experience supporting communications strategies, campaigns, or content planning is considered desirable.
