Organizational Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) is the UN's directing and coordinating authority on international health. The WHO Country Office in Mozambique collaborates with the Ministry of Health to strengthen health systems and improve essential health services. The Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Team produces various technical documents, including the Pacote Essencial de Cuidados de Saúde em Moçambique (PECS). This assignment supports the professional presentation and publication of these critical health materials.
Job Purpose
This assignment seeks graphic design and document layout expertise to ensure the professional presentation, visual consistency, and accessibility of the Pacote Essencial de Cuidados de Saúde em Moçambique (PECS) and related materials. The Online Volunteer will contribute to the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Team's priority of finalizing and producing these comprehensive technical materials. By enhancing the quality and usability of these publications, the volunteer will directly support service delivery and capacity building across Mozambique's health sector, ultimately contributing to the goal of promoting health and serving the vulnerable.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will provide graphic design and document layout support for the publication of the PECS and related materials under the supervision of the HSS Team Lead. Key responsibilities include designing and laying out documents using professional software, developing a consistent visual identity across all materials (typography, color palettes, page structure, icons, illustrations), and formatting tables, charts, diagrams, and infographics for enhanced readability. The volunteer will ensure compliance with WHO branding guidelines, prepare print-ready files, conduct quality checks, and revise layouts based on feedback. Additionally, they will organize and submit all source and final files, and provide graphic design support for other PECS-related communication products as needed.
Work Experience
Candidates must have professional experience in graphic design, including document layout design. In-depth knowledge of graphic design applications is essential. Prior experience designing materials for UN agencies, NGOs, or development organizations is advantageous. Good verbal and written communication skills are also required.
Skills
Proficiency in graphic design and visual communication, particularly for brochures, job aids, and reports. Strong command of design software like Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Excellent attention to detail and ability to adhere to brand guidelines. Written proficiency in English and Portuguese. Good verbal and written communication skills.
