UNDP addresses national development disparities and enhances Mexico's role as an international development partner. Programs, funded by various sources, tackle local issues and inform public policy. Mexico has achieved international recognition in areas like climate change, renewable energy, and electoral assistance. UNDP collaborates with Mexico to promote South-South, triangular, and horizontal cooperation.
Job Purpose
This role supports the eMonitor+ project in Mexico, focusing on measuring and analyzing digital gender-based violence and electoral violence on social media and digital platforms. The assignment requires volunteers to monitor, identify, and analyze relevant content due to the high volume of daily online activity. This contribution will enhance evidence generation on digital violence dynamics, informing prevention and response strategies. It aligns with UNDP's goals of promoting gender equality, violence-free political participation, and inclusive institutions, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
Volunteers will support the UNDP Mexico office by annotating and classifying online publications collected via the eMonitor+ tool. The primary objective is to identify hate speech, toxic communication, and gender-based violence in digital media and social networks, and to measure these expressions within the electoral context leading up to the 2027 elections. Volunteers will review pre-collected publications, applying defined project criteria and categories to classify observed phenomena. Training on the tool and annotation guidelines will be provided. Tasks will be distributed equitably among volunteers, ensuring comparable results. Expected deliverables include annotated databases for subsequent analysis, early warning systems, and institutional prevention and advocacy actions.
Work Experience
Desirable experience includes information analysis and digital media monitoring. Experience with gender issues, feminisms, or gender-based violence is preferred. Knowledge of Mexico's political and social context, particularly in identifying false narratives or disinformation, is beneficial. Experience in preparing technical documents and data analysis is also valued.
Skills
Proficiency in Spanish (native level) is required. Skills include analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to classify and annotate digital content according to specific guidelines. Understanding of gender equality principles and digital communication dynamics is important.
