Organizational Context

In Tunisia, UNDP focuses on inclusive governance, socio-economic resilience, and climate action, aligning with SDG 2030 and Tunisia Vision 2035. The office prioritizes youth engagement as a cross-cutting theme, developing a dedicated approach to strengthen youth participation in its initiatives and foster dialogue with youth networks and universities. This assignment supports the operationalization of this strategy.
Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer assignment aims to support the operationalization of UNDP Tunisia's youth engagement strategy, reinforcing youth participation and mobilization around the country's sustainable development priorities. It aligns with national youth priorities, including the National Youth Strategy and dialogue mechanisms led by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as UN System initiatives for inclusive youth participation and the Youth, Peace and Security agenda. The volunteer will provide dedicated support to functions currently distributed among several colleagues, contributing to outreach activities, animating engagement networks and platforms, and strengthening ties with universities and young people to serve UNDP Tunisia's programs and initiatives. This role is crucial for enhancing youth involvement in UNDP initiatives, increasing their awareness of engagement opportunities, and structuring more regular and effective interaction mechanisms. The assignment is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia, with a focus on including young people with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Youth Focal Point, the UN Volunteer will support various activities. This includes contributing to youth-targeted communication efforts, identifying and mobilizing young audiences for events, and animating digital channels to disseminate information and opportunities. The volunteer will also help coordinate and animate UNDP Tunisia's youth network, manage communication platforms, and organize online and in-person activities to foster youth exchange and participation, while collecting feedback.
Furthermore, the role involves assisting in the implementation of the youth engagement strategy, preparing, organizing, and monitoring activities, and collecting data to document results for follow-up and evaluation. The volunteer will contribute to organizing and implementing youth-related activities within UNDP projects, documenting outcomes, and mobilizing young people and partners. Support for university partnerships includes implementing activities, mobilizing students and associations, strengthening exchanges, and organizing outreach events like UNDP Open Days. Finally, the volunteer will provide operational support for administrative, logistical, and organizational tasks related to their area of intervention, and undertake other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
At least one year of relevant professional and/or associative experience in youth engagement or community mobilization is required. Demonstrated interest in the Tunisian youth ecosystem (associations, universities, public institutions) is essential. Experience in network animation or partnership coordination is an asset. Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp) for mobilizing young online audiences, graphic design tools (Canva, Capcut), and MS Office applications is necessary. Knowledge of AI fundamentals and strong oral and written communication skills, including reporting, are also required.
