This role supports the operationalization of the 'evidence and knowledge management' strategy to ensure successful programme delivery and inform advocacy.
Job Purpose
This Data Management Officer position is established within UNICEF's Programme team in The Gambia to strengthen the generation, analysis, dissemination, and utilization of evidence related to children and adolescents. The role will support the operationalization and implementation of the Country Programme’s evidence and knowledge management strategy, contributing to the successful delivery of the programme and informing its advocacy efforts. The incumbent will focus on enhancing data collection, statistics, data analysis systems, and knowledge management capacities within the Country Office and among partners, ultimately improving reporting, evidence-based planning, and advocacy for child rights in The Gambia.
Responsibilities
The UNV Data Management Officer will strengthen evidence and identify data gaps related to children and adolescents, supporting improvements in data availability, use, and national data systems, including integration and interoperability. The role involves managing data and evidence consolidation, ensuring quality assurance, and making data accessible for UNICEF and partners to support planning, advocacy, and reporting. Additionally, the officer will build capacity for data and evidence use among staff and partners through training and technical support, enhancing tools and practices for evidence generation and utilization. The position also focuses on strengthening knowledge management practices by documenting and sharing lessons learned, good practices, and innovations, and promoting the use of evidence for informed programming and decision-making.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of relevant experience, with 5 years preferred. Strong expertise in data management and analysis, including methodologies, tools, and systems, is essential. Experience with UN or international development organizations is an asset. Proven experience in evidence generation, documenting best practices, and developing knowledge products is necessary. Demonstrated ability to design and apply knowledge management tools and strong organizational, coordination, and interpersonal skills are also required.
