Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance for UNICEF's education programmes and projects within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This involves supporting the entire programming cycle, from development planning to results delivery and reporting. The role requires preparing, executing, managing, and implementing various technical and administrative tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and the needs of children in the region.
Responsibilities
Support programme development and planning by contributing to situation analyses for the education sector, particularly in emergencies, and developing humanitarian response and annual work plans. Assist in designing context-appropriate interventions like radio-based learning and temporary learning spaces. Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming, executing transactions, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with RBM and M&E systems. Manage, monitor, and deliver results by collaborating with partners, analyzing implementation issues, and suggesting solutions. Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, prepare reports, and monitor resource utilization, ensuring compliance and reporting on identified issues. Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners on UNICEF policies and best practices. Support the rollout of quality learning activities, teacher training, material distribution, and the establishment of safe learning environments. Integrate cross-cutting issues like gender equality and protection into education programming. Build and sustain partnerships with government and national stakeholders, represent UNICEF in coordination meetings, and contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or monitoring is required. Experience in humanitarian contexts, particularly education in emergencies, is a strong asset. Experience in fragile or conflict-affected states, with the UN system, or in foundational literacy and numeracy programmes is also desirable.
