The Child Health and Development Team, aligning with the Healthy China 2030 plan, partners with the Government to invest in actions impacting women and children's health.
Job Purpose
The UNICEF Child Health and Development Team is dedicated to ensuring every child survives, thrives, and reaches their full potential. In partnership with the Chinese Government and aligned with the national priorities of The Healthy China 2030 plan, UNICEF strategically invests in initiatives that directly and indirectly enhance the health of women and children. Under its new five-year programme of cooperation, UNICEF collaborates with key government ministries, including the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Ministry of Education, alongside technical institutions. This assignment aims to implement projects and advocate for targeted actions that specifically address and mitigate environmental and climate change-related health risks affecting children.
Responsibilities
The UN Associate Volunteer will provide technical support for the evaluation and improvement of the CEHI platform, including contributing to consultations, data analysis, and documentation. The role involves offering coordination support for the climate change and health project, working closely with government partners, which includes assisting with meetings and facilitating field missions. Furthermore, the volunteer will support the organization of various relevant events, notably the Global Conference on Children’s Environmental Health. The volunteer will also undertake any other related tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor to ensure the smooth execution of programme activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 month of general experience and 1 year of relevant experience is required. Extensive experience in Environment, Climate, Health, or International Development fields is considered an asset. Candidates must demonstrate interest and/or experience in climate change and environmental health. Previous experience as a volunteer or exposure to another culture through studies, volunteer work, or internships is highly regarded.

Required competencies include building and maintaining partnerships, demonstrating self-awareness and ethical awareness, driving to achieve results for impact, innovating and embracing change, managing ambiguity and complexity, thinking and acting strategically, and working collaboratively with others. Essential values are Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, Accountability, and Sustainability (CRITAS). Technical skills include excellent computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media). Good interpersonal, networking, and communication skills are also necessary.
