The UN has declared 2026 as IVY 2026, encouraging worldwide recognition and support for all forms of volunteerism. In Europe and Central Asia, National Focal Points are actively involved in generating content for the IVY 2026 Knowledge Portal, a platform designed to collect and disseminate volunteer experiences and initiatives.
Job Purpose
This assignment supports the International Volunteer Year (IVY 2026) by facilitating the structured and timely submission of content into the global Knowledge Portal. The role involves coordinating with National Focal Points in Europe and Central Asia to collect, review, and upload information, including updates, events, publications, and stories. The objective is to ensure consistent capture and global availability of volunteer-related information, contributing to the recognition and measurement of volunteer contributions as a key driver of sustainable development. The work directly supports the IVY 2026 initiative's goal of championing volunteerism worldwide.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will liaise with assigned National Focal Points (1-2 per volunteer) to collect content and updates for publication on the Knowledge Portal. Responsibilities include reviewing submissions for completeness, formatting, and consistency, then uploading and organizing the content. Volunteers will prepare draft summaries and short descriptions for events and initiatives, and track pending submissions using a monitoring sheet. They will also support basic quality assurance and metadata consistency across entries. Coordination with the IVY team on publication timelines and follow-up actions is essential. An orientation call may be required.
Work Experience
Experience working with websites, Content Management Systems (CMS) platforms, or knowledge repositories is required. Candidates should possess strong writing skills for summarizing information clearly and accurately, attention to detail for maintaining consistency, and coordination skills for communicating with multiple international stakeholders. The ability to manage information flows and deadlines is also important.
