Support Data Analysis and Visualization of MIMU Platform Data
Organizational Context
UNDP has supported Myanmar since the 1950s, pivoting to the Community First Programme (2021-2025) post-2021 to assist vulnerable populations and community recovery, with an extensive field presence. The Myanmar Information Management Unit (MIMU), hosted by UNDP, serves humanitarian and development agencies by safeguarding a common data repository. MIMU supports information management and decision-making for actors across Myanmar, promoting data and geo-referencing standards among UN agencies and NGOs.
Job Purpose
The Myanmar Information Management Unit (MIMU), established in 2007 and hosted by UNDP, supports information management and decision-making for humanitarian, development, and peace actors in Myanmar. MIMU maintains a common data and information repository, compiling data from various sources across all sectors and administrative units, making it accessible to stakeholders. It also promotes data, geo-referencing, and information management standards among UN agencies and NGOs. The Online Volunteer's contribution will help MIMU analyze labor-market and development trends, enhance the usability of its data products, and build internal data visualization capacity. This effort will strengthen data collection and analysis mechanisms, providing disaggregated data to monitor SDG progress and enhance policy coherence for sustainable development, aligning with SDG 17.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will support the MIMU Data Manager in analyzing and visualizing MIMU's platform usage and collected data, reviewing data visualization products, and building capacity. Key duties include conducting an analysis of MIMU's accumulated vacancy-platform data, consolidating postings, defining research questions, and identifying trends and insights. The volunteer will define methods, indicators, and tabulation plans for analysis, identifying relevant patterns and findings. They will design and build Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring strong attention to discoverability and user experience, and provide narrative interpretation of findings. Additionally, the volunteer will create Power BI learning content (e.g., DAX, Power Query) to strengthen the team's capacity and offer constructive design and UI/UX reviews of existing MIMU dashboards, providing expert recommendations. Datasets will be provided, and progress updates are required during regular calls; no products or data will be published without supervisor approval, and access to sensitive data is restricted.
