Organizational Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) is the UN's directing and coordinating authority for public health. Its Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean serves 21 Member States and occupied Palestinian territory, covering a population of nearly 679 million. WHO supports countries in this region to collect and report data on progress in implementing the action plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). This assignment contributes to strengthening the analysis and usability of this critical country-reported data.
Job Purpose
This assignment's core purpose is to significantly strengthen the analysis and usability of country-reported data from the WHO TrACSS platform. This platform is crucial for tracking progress and achievements in implementing the action plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) across the Eastern Mediterranean Region, where countries are diligently collecting and reporting data with WHO's support. The volunteer will apply their specialized data analysis skills to address a real-world global health challenge, making a tangible contribution to public health initiatives. This role offers an invaluable opportunity to learn directly from WHO experts and foster collaboration with professionals throughout the region, thereby substantially enhancing their experience in AMR and public health data systems. The ultimate goal is to facilitate more informed, data-driven decision-making for effective AMR control.
Responsibilities
The online volunteers will operate under the direct guidance of the Acting Regional AMR Adviser within the AMR-IPC-One Health Unit at the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office. Their primary duties will involve meticulously extracting data from PDF files submitted by various countries to the TrACSS platform. Following extraction, volunteers will be responsible for thoroughly cleaning and structuring these complex datasets, focusing on selected key indicators to ensure data integrity and readiness for analysis. A significant aspect of the role is to generate comprehensive analytical outputs, which include developing clear tables and impactful visualizations to represent findings effectively. Volunteers will also be tasked with summarizing these key findings into concise, informative reports. Furthermore, they will compare current data with variables from previous years to identify trends and create a dynamic data dashboard for easy access and interpretation. Crucially, the assignment requires documenting the entire analysis workflow, which is vital for future capacity building and ensuring the sustainability of the process. Final deliverables will include meticulously cleaned and structured datasets in Excel format, a suite of analytical outputs featuring tables and visualizations, a summary report detailing key trends and findings, a functional data dashboard, and comprehensive documentation of the analysis workflow for future reference.
