Job Purpose
This role supports the UN's peacebuilding and social cohesion efforts in Mali by enhancing the visibility and impact of a joint project focused on youth empowerment. The volunteer will translate project information, key messages, and results into compelling visual formats. This includes designing infographics, presentations, and other communication materials like banners and backdrops. The objective is to create attractive, coherent tools that effectively communicate the project's actions and achievements to institutional partners, beneficiaries, and the public, ensuring alignment with UN communication standards and promoting a positive image of the initiative.
Responsibilities
Under the project team's supervision, the infographic and reporting specialist will be responsible for designing and producing various communication and visibility materials over an 8-week period. Key tasks include understanding project content and key messages, identifying communication needs, and proposing graphic concepts and mock-ups for items such as banners, stage backdrops, infographics, and PowerPoint presentations. The specialist will develop initial drafts of these materials, ensuring they adhere to UN graphic standards and effectively convey project results. Responsibilities also involve integrating feedback from stakeholders, harmonizing all products, and ensuring visual identity consistency. Finally, the role requires delivering finalized materials in required formats, including editable source files and print-ready versions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience in designing infographics and visual communication materials is required. Proven experience and strong skills in reporting, including analyzing narrative and financial reports and extracting relevant data for visual representation, are essential. Experience in development project communication, institutional reporting, or UN programs is considered an asset.
Skills
Strong graphic design skills, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) or similar tools (Canva), and data visualization expertise (Excel). Ability to synthesize complex information into accessible visuals. Excellent reporting and analytical skills. Proficiency in remote collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom, Google Meet). Creativity, rigor, and ability to meet strict deadlines. Working knowledge of French is desirable.
