Job Purpose
The assignment's purpose is to identify, assess, and analyze international philanthropic organizations and foundations capable of supporting initiatives that enhance the livelihoods of smallholder farmers, strengthen agricultural value chains, promote climate-smart agriculture, and improve food security, thereby contributing to sustainable rural development in Lebanon. This involves comprehensive desk research to pinpoint foundations, trusts, family offices, and corporate foundations whose strategic priorities align with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture's goals. The expected contribution is the development of a robust donor intelligence database and concise donor profiles. These resources will significantly bolster the Ministry's future fundraising and partnership efforts, enabling critical investments in Lebanon's agricultural sector.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will conduct extensive desk research on international philanthropic foundations, trusts, family offices, and corporate foundations actively involved in agriculture and rural development. This involves systematically identifying organizations whose strategic priorities directly align with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture's goals, focusing on areas such as smallholder farmer development, food security, sustainable and climate-smart agriculture, rural livelihoods, agricultural cooperatives, value chain development, youth and women's engagement in agriculture, climate adaptation, environmental sustainability, and agricultural innovation. Key duties include reviewing funding priorities, eligibility criteria, grant-making mechanisms, application procedures, and geographic focus areas of potential donors. The volunteer will also analyze previous grants and partnerships awarded in Lebanon, the Middle East and North Africa region, and similar developing country contexts. A crucial responsibility is to develop a comprehensive donor intelligence database, prepare concise donor profiles highlighting strategic alignment with Ministry priorities, and identify concrete opportunities for engagement, collaboration, and partnership development. The volunteer is ultimately responsible for submitting a curated list of potential donors for integration into the Ministry's resource mobilization database.
Work Experience
The assignment requires a High School Diploma. Candidates should demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, coupled with excellent written communication abilities in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and various online research tools is essential. Fluency in Arabic and/or French is considered a desirable asset.
