Job Purpose
The Community Officer role is integral to the UNOPS ‘COVID-19 Emergency Response’ project in Uzbekistan, contributing to the enhancement of the country's health infrastructure. The assignment focuses on supporting the procurement and delivery of essential medical and laboratory equipment to over 150 facilities. The volunteer will assist in administrative aspects of contract management, observe the handover and installation processes, and monitor training for end-users. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective transfer of critical medical assets, thereby strengthening Uzbekistan's capacity to manage health emergencies and improve public health services.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the Biomedical Engineer in observing the handover and delivery of medical and lab equipment, including verifying inventory against procurement rules, assessing storage conditions, and documenting delivery status. Responsibilities also include monitoring installation processes, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and observing initial calibration and testing. The volunteer will oversee training sessions, confirming staff participation and evaluating comprehension of new equipment, while identifying and reporting any training gaps. Additionally, the role involves administrative tasks related to contract management, such as digitizing and organizing documents, tracking deadlines, updating databases, verifying vendor documents, and supporting audits. General duties include maintaining confidentiality and submitting regular progress reports.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required, though one month of relevant experience is desirable. The role requires basic skills in handover activities, strict neutrality, cross-cultural sensitivity, and asset management knowledge.
