The organization prioritizes the survival, protection, and development of children, especially the most disadvantaged. UNICEF mobilizes resources to help countries build capacity for child-focused policies and services, and responds to emergencies to protect children's rights. Cooperation is non-partisan and free of discrimination, with a focus on the greatest need.
Job Purpose
This online volunteer assignment supports the UNICEF Oman Youth Advocate Programme, a four-month initiative focused on youth-led advocacy for child rights and related issues in Oman. The role involves remote coordination to ensure high-quality implementation, consistent follow-up, and adherence to UNICEF's mandate and communication standards. The volunteer will work entirely remotely, guided by the UNICEF Oman Communications team, contributing to youth engagement and advocacy efforts through communication and social media tasks.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will remotely maintain an online tracker for advocates' work plans and deliverables, updating it weekly and flagging delays. Responsibilities include supporting the remote scheduling of sessions and workshops, coordinating communication between UNICEF and advocates, and providing guidance on advocacy approaches for UNICEF online campaigns. The role involves producing written content, such as blog posts, feature pieces, and press releases (bilingual Arabic/English), and reviewing advocate content against UNICEF communication standards within two working days. Additionally, the volunteer will provide remote coordination for youth participation in programme events, monitor progress against deliverables, maintain records, and prepare monthly progress summaries. Final deliverables include a content-review log, a bilingual press release, caption support for social media, and a final programme summary report.
Work Experience
Experience with youth programmes, volunteer programmes, advocacy campaigns, or NGOs is required. Experience in coordinating projects or events, with strong organization and attention to detail, is also necessary. The ability to work independently and manage multiple remote priorities is essential.
