The OHCHR New York Office focuses on communications and advocacy within its operating environment.

Job Purpose

This role supports the OHCHR New York Office's communications and advocacy efforts by creating engaging social media content. The volunteer will work closely with the Public Information Officer to enhance the visibility of the UN Human Rights Office's work in New York. The primary contribution involves developing social media posts and sourcing relevant images to promote advocacy initiatives, reports, statements, campaigns, and events, thereby increasing public awareness and engagement with human rights issues.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will support the OHCHR New York Office in producing visual communications materials and social media content under the guidance of the Public Information Officer. Key duties include creating three social media posts weekly to promote OHCHR's advocacy initiatives, reports, statements, campaigns, and events. This also involves researching and sourcing appropriate images to accompany these posts. The volunteer is expected to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and ensure the quality and conciseness of all produced content.

Work Experience

Candidates require professional experience with social media platforms and strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in video editing and motion graphics animation is considered an asset. Proficiency in design software and Microsoft Office programs, particularly PowerPoint, is preferred.

Proficiency in design software and social media platforms is preferred. The ability to work independently while possessing strong interpersonal skills is also valued.
