Organizational Context
UNICEF Benin operates within the framework of the 2024-2027 Cooperation Programme with the Government of Benin, aiming to enhance equitable access to quality basic social services for children, adolescents, and youth. In a context of increasing needs and resource competition, UNICEF Benin is strengthening its resource mobilization and partnership development strategy. The private sector is identified as a key lever for supporting country programme priorities through innovative financing, child rights advocacy, social innovation, impact partnerships, individual donations, and engagement with Next Gen actors.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF Benin's efforts to guarantee the rights of every child, particularly the most vulnerable, by diversifying resources and strengthening partnerships. The VNU Specialist will contribute to developing strategic partnerships, managing donor relations, conducting due diligence, overseeing internal partnership tracking platforms, and implementing innovative resource mobilization strategies. The primary objective is to bolster UNICEF Benin's capacity in identifying, developing, managing, and monitoring strategic partnerships, as well as in mobilizing resources from private and financial partners to support programmatic and humanitarian interventions.
Responsibilities
The VNU Specialist will support the development of strategic partnerships by identifying and mapping potential private sector, foundation, and IFI partners, conducting strategic analyses of their priorities and capacities, and assisting in the preparation of concept notes and proposals. Responsibilities include supporting due diligence processes by conducting risk assessments and managing validation dossiers. The role involves managing partner and donor relations through relationship support, preparing briefs and reports, and coordinating engagements with IFIs. Additionally, the VNU will maintain internal systems and tools, ensuring regular updates of the UNISON platform and partner databases, and contribute to tracking resource mobilization pipelines. Support for innovative mobilization strategies includes contributing to individual donation and Next Gen strategies, and identifying engagement opportunities for young leaders and philanthropists. Strategic watch on development financing trends and identifying collaboration opportunities are also key.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in partnership management, resource mobilization, international development, or partner relationship management is required. Experience in managing partnerships with the private sector or donors is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management platforms is necessary. Knowledge of UN or UNICEF procedures is an asset.
