Job Purpose
The Community Assistant will support the strategic planning and effective implementation of the "Trayectos: Comunidades Unidas por la Cohesión Social" project in the Costa Arriba de Colón area. Working under the supervision of the UN Women Panama Program Coordinator and the Project Coordinator, the volunteer will execute field activities such as workshops, community dialogues, and sports/cultural events using the Sportnet methodology. The role involves articulating with local authorities and community organizations, supporting project timelines and indicator reporting, and preparing periodic progress reports. A key aspect is fostering the meaningful participation of women, youth, and indigenous/Afro-descendant communities to promote social cohesion.
Responsibilities
The Community Assistant will execute field activities, including workshops, community dialogues, and sports/cultural events, utilizing the Sportnet methodology. They will support articulation with local authorities, community organizations, and strategic partners to ensure project objectives are met. The role involves assisting in the adherence to project timelines and the reporting of key indicators. Additionally, the volunteer will be responsible for preparing periodic progress and implementation reports, and supporting monitoring and evaluation actions. A crucial duty is to facilitate the significant participation of women, youth, and Afro-descendant and indigenous communities, employing the SportNet methodology to enhance social cohesion. The volunteer will also undertake other functional tasks as deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the UN Women Panama Program.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, demonstrated interest or experience in community work, implementing social/community development projects, supporting field activities, and promoting the meaningful participation of women, youth, and indigenous/Afro-descendant communities in line with UN Women's inclusion and equality approaches is desirable.
