Organizational Context
UNIC Manama serves as the primary source of UN information in Bahrain and the Gulf region, aiming to foster public understanding and support for the UN's mission and activities. This role involves disseminating information about the Organization's work to the local population and stakeholders. The unit actively seeks to enhance its media monitoring capabilities to better gauge public perception and track coverage of UN initiatives.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to bolster UNIC Manama's media monitoring efforts by engaging Online Volunteers to track and analyze developments across traditional and social media platforms. The volunteers will play a crucial role in identifying key headlines, assessing public perception of UN activities, and monitoring coverage of UN personnel actions related to regional issues. Their contribution will involve synthesizing this information into daily updates and weekly reports, providing valuable insights to the communications unit and supporting the UN's public information mandate in the region.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteers will monitor various news and social media platforms to identify and track key headlines and developments relevant to the UN's work in the region. They will be responsible for analyzing and summarizing public opinions regarding the effectiveness of UN efforts, noting both positive and critical feedback. Additionally, volunteers will cover activities of UN personnel concerning significant regional issues. A core duty involves developing daily media updates and comprehensive media coverage reports in close coordination with the UNIC Manama communications unit. Each volunteer is also expected to produce one detailed weekly report summarizing findings and trends.
Work Experience
Previous experience in media and communication, with a specific focus on media monitoring, is required. Candidates should possess strong analytical and reporting skills. The ability to work with both traditional and social media platforms is essential. Submission of previous work samples related to media monitoring is requested.

Proficiency in English and Arabic (fluent level) is required. Strong analytical and reporting skills are essential. Experience in media and communication, particularly in media monitoring, is necessary. The ability to synthesize information from various sources and present it clearly is expected.
