Job Purpose
This role provides professional and technical support, research, and analysis for the UNESCO Kinshasa office, focusing on the Democratic Republic of Congo's national perspective. The incumbent will contribute to the Communication and Information Sector's objectives and support multisectoral programmatic activities. The position operates within the framework of UNESCO's Medium-Term Strategy (C/4) and Approved Programme and Budget (C/5), contributing to global development plans like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The role is crucial for advancing media development, fostering knowledge societies, and ensuring access to information within the DRC.
Responsibilities
The Associate Programme Officer will support program and project implementation by contributing to project execution, work plan development, and activity monitoring. This includes assisting with information gathering, preparing documents like concept notes and reports, and providing logistical and administrative support for activities, meetings, and missions. The role also involves contributing to project results monitoring and drafting simple reports. In research and knowledge management, the incumbent will conduct research and analysis, preparing data for documents, projects, and publications. They will ensure knowledge management systems and websites are up-to-date and contribute to institutional memory by uploading content to automated systems. The role also involves designing monitoring tools for project progress and performance and analyzing best practices. For partnerships, the officer will help prepare communication materials, support visibility and awareness-raising activities, identify collaboration opportunities, and participate in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.
Work Experience
Requires 1 month of general experience and 1 year of relevant experience. Experience should include contributing to public policy analysis, supporting national/sub-regional projects in communication, journalism, or information science, and involvement in advocacy, resource mobilization, and partnership building.
