In Tunisia, IOM's protection unit works to enhance program accountability and ensure accessibility of services for all migrants, including those with disabilities. This role supports IOM's 2026-2027 action plans focused on disability inclusion and accountability to affected populations, in partnership with the Swiss Embassy and UNV to promote youth inclusion.
Job Purpose
This assignment supports IOM Tunisia's protection unit in implementing action plans for disability inclusion and accountability to affected populations for 2026-2027. The volunteer will coordinate the implementation of these plans, collaborating with various IOM units and programs. The role aims to ensure IOM's services and programs are accessible to all individuals in mobility in Tunisia, with a particular focus on those with disabilities. This initiative is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia through a partnership with UNV to enhance youth inclusion, especially for young people with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Mainstreaming Associate, the UN Volunteer will support activities related to Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and disability inclusion. This includes monitoring AAP action plans, organizing community awareness sessions on feedback mechanisms, and supporting IOM teams in implementing and monitoring AAP initiatives. The volunteer will also contribute to revising materials for accessibility, identifying best practices for disability inclusion, and ensuring training and tools are inclusive. Additionally, the role involves supporting coordination with community organizations and civil society, preparing meetings and events, and contributing to capacity building and knowledge management by disseminating information and supporting best practice sharing. The volunteer will actively participate in team meetings and perform other related tasks as needed.
Work Experience
Requires 1 month of relevant experience in disability inclusion, accountability to affected populations, or protection mainstreaming. Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural collaboration skills are essential. Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work independently and in a multicultural team within challenging environments are required. Familiarity with migration issues is desirable.
