Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will play a vital role in strengthening UNICEF India's digital communication and outreach under the supervision of the Communication Officer. This assignment focuses on the daily management of UNICEF India's social media channels, ensuring consistent and engaging content delivery. The volunteer's contribution will be instrumental in supporting the generation of comprehensive analytic reports, developing compelling marketing content, and conducting thorough social listening. These efforts are essential for optimizing UNICEF's advocacy strategies, understanding public sentiment, and effectively communicating the organization's commitment to realizing the rights of every child in India, encompassing child survival, protection, development, and participation. The role directly supports UNICEF's goal of improving the lives of children and families nationwide.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for a range of tasks vital to UNICEF India's digital communication strategy. A core duty involves the daily management of UNICEF India’s social media channels, which includes active community engagement, responding to comments, and meticulously scheduling and publishing content to maintain a consistent and impactful online presence. The volunteer will also play a key role in content creation, conceptualizing and editing diverse materials suitable for publication across UNICEF India’s various social media platforms, ensuring messages are clear, compelling, and aligned with organizational goals. Significant support will be provided in social media analytics, entailing the production of comprehensive monthly and campaign-specific reports to track performance, identify trends, and inform future strategies. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in the strategic marketing of social media content on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to maximize reach and audience engagement. Finally, the role includes supporting the generation of social listening reports on specific topics, offering critical insights into public discourse and perceptions relevant to UNICEF's mandate.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional work experience at national or international levels is required, specifically in digital media. This must include hands-on experience in managing social media platforms. Desirable experience includes using social listening tools and producing detailed reports, as well as experience in photography, videography, and editing for social media. Prior experience working with the UN or other international development organizations is considered an asset.
Skills
Required skills include excellent oral and written English, strong drafting, formulation, and reporting abilities. Proficiency in digital content creation and editing tools like Canva and Adobe is essential. Candidates should have experience with social media analytics for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube, including using analytics tools for reporting, scheduling, and community management. Key competencies encompass professionalism, integrity, teamwork, respect for diversity, strong communication, planning and organizing, and flexibility. Solid computer literacy, including MS Office proficiency, is necessary. Interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively in multicultural teams are also important. Knowledge of Hindi or other local languages is an asset.
