Job Purpose
This role supports the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA) programme by translating and linguistically reviewing educational materials, known as YUNGA Challenge Badges. These badges cover topics like food systems, climate action, and sustainable development, and are used globally by educators and youth organizations. The volunteer's contribution is crucial for the final publication stages, ensuring these valuable resources are accurate, clear, and accessible to a wider audience, particularly educators and young learners, in French and Spanish.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will translate YUNGA Challenge Badge educational resources from English into French and Spanish. Responsibilities include reviewing and proofreading translated materials for linguistic accuracy, clarity, consistency, and suitability for educators and young audiences. The volunteer will ensure technical correctness and user-friendly language, adhering to FAO's language and style guidelines. Additionally, they will provide feedback to enhance readability, support the finalization of specific badges like the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration badge by incorporating partner feedback, and assist in integrating inputs from piloting and testing phases into final versions.
Work Experience
While no specific work experience is mandated, candidates aged 18-35 are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience in translation, editing, copyediting, communications, or education is desirable.
