Job Purpose
This role supports Action Lab for Development's Entrepreneurship Support program, a comprehensive initiative aimed at empowering underserved and immigrant communities. The assignment focuses on securing funding and partnerships to sustain and grow the program, which provides future-ready skills, practical training, and access to entrepreneurial ecosystems. The volunteer will contribute to the program's mission of enabling individuals to start, sustain, and grow profitable businesses or secure meaningful employment, thereby fostering social cohesion and economic mobility in Alberta.
Responsibilities
Three online volunteers are sought to support donor research, partner outreach, and grant proposal writing. One volunteer will identify and compile information on potential funders, including foundations and businesses, for the Entrepreneurship Support Program and related platforms. Another volunteer will draft professional introduction letters, partnership proposals, and thank-you letters, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and objectives. The third volunteer will draft tailored grant proposals based on identified funding opportunities, adhering strictly to donor guidelines. All drafted materials will undergo internal review, and volunteers will not be responsible for external communications or submissions.
Work Experience
Strong research and writing skills are required. Experience with grant writing and creating formal correspondence is preferred but not mandatory. The ability to communicate effectively in writing with attention to detail, and to work independently, is essential.
