Career Support Volunteer for Frontier & Future Tech Leaders Programmes

Organizational Context

The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) is a UNDP Global Policy Centre focused on engaging the private sector and foundations as development partners. It conducts research, advocates for inclusive business, and facilitates public-private dialogue. Established in partnership with Türkiye, IICPSD leads global efforts on private sector engagement, focusing on inclusive business, skills development, impact investing, and resilience. It also hosts key global initiatives and collaborates with the UN Technology Bank for LDCs on the Frontier Tech Leaders Programme.

Job Purpose

This role supports the career development component of the Frontier Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme, a joint initiative by UNDP ICPSD's SDG AI Lab and the UN Technology Bank for LDCs. The programme aims to bridge the digital divide and foster sustainable development by equipping a new generation of tech specialists with skills for Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The volunteer will contribute to strengthening local capacities and developing digital solutions for LDCs, ultimately envisioning a world where LDCs can effectively leverage frontier technologies to address development challenges and achieve the SDGs.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will support the career development of young tech leaders within the Frontier Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme. Key duties include assisting with beneficiary engagement, disseminating career opportunities (jobs, internships), and coordinating virtual career support activities such as 1-on-1 CV and LinkedIn profile reviews, mock interviews, and career mentorship sessions. The volunteer will also provide administrative and logistical support to the Programme team and career development expert. Responsibilities include scheduling meetings, drafting communication materials for outreach and event organization, and disseminating opportunities through the FTL LinkedIn Community Network Group and other relevant channels.

Work Experience

While specific work experience is not detailed, the role requires proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools and familiarity with online community platforms like WhatsApp, LinkedIn Groups, or Circle. An interest in working with an international organization and supporting adult learners is expected.

Skills

Required skills include excellent English reading and writing, strong planning and monitoring abilities with attention to detail, pragmatic problem-solving, proactivity, motivation, and the ability to work calmly under pressure. Desirable skills include fluency in French and Arabic. The volunteer should demonstrate compassion, respect for diversity, effective communication, enthusiasm for organizing tasks, and an understanding of adult learner needs.
