Organizational Context
The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) is a UNDP Global Policy Centre focused on engaging the private sector and foundations in development. It supports inclusive business, skills development, impact investing, and resilience. The Center leads UNDP's global work in these areas and hosts several global initiatives. The SDG AI Lab within IICPSD implements the Future Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme to equip youth with cutting-edge digital skills, including AI and data science, to foster entrepreneurship and leadership.
Job Purpose
This role supports the Future Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme's AI4Climate Implementation initiative, specifically focusing on the DS4SDGs training component. The purpose is to equip Syrian youth with advanced digital skills in areas like AI, machine learning, and data science, linking this training to climate challenges. The assignment aims to build local capacity, support pilot projects, and create employment opportunities for young people in a fragile context. The volunteer will contribute to strengthening resilience and opening future-oriented employment pathways by facilitating knowledge transfer and practical skill development.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will update existing DS4SDGs course materials, exercises, and assignments to align with Climate Resilience best practices. They will deliver "DS4SDGs" courses to students, ensuring comprehensive understanding, and conduct live coding sessions to demonstrate practical skills. Volunteers may provide pre-recorded demos if needed and will host office hours to address student questions, assist with assignments, and facilitate interaction. The workload and schedule for office hours will be discussed with the volunteers. The role requires reviewing and updating course content, delivering training, providing practical demonstrations, and offering student support.
Work Experience
Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or instructional experience is desirable. Advanced proficiency in Python programming, Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing is required, demonstrated through a project portfolio, work experience, or certified training. Strong software development and problem-solving skills are essential.

Experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or instructional roles is a plus. Working knowledge of English is required, and Arabic is desirable.
