Job Purpose
This role supports the Future Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme in Syria, implemented by UNDP's SDG AI Lab. The programme aims to equip Syrian youth with advanced digital skills in AI and machine learning, crucial for addressing climate challenges and fostering resilience. The objective is to build local capacity, support pilot projects, and create employment opportunities in a fragile context. By linking technology training to climate resilience, the initiative seeks to open future-oriented employment and innovation pathways for young people facing high unemployment.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will support the FTL Programme by reviewing and updating Machine Learning course materials to align with climate resilience best practices. Responsibilities include enhancing course content, exercises, and assignments. If needed, the volunteer may deliver "Machine Learning Specialization" courses, conduct live coding sessions, and provide pre-recorded demos. A key duty is hosting office hours to assist students with assignments, teaching, and general queries, fostering a supportive learning environment. The specific workload and schedule for office hours will be discussed.
Work Experience
Required experience includes being a senior-year undergraduate student or higher, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a solid programming foundation. Advanced proficiency in Python, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, demonstrated through projects, work, or certifications, is necessary. Strong software development and problem-solving skills are also required.
