The WHO office in the occupied Palestinian territory provides technical advice to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. This UN Volunteer will support the Operations Support and Logistics (OSL) Egyptian Corridor Team, crucial for emergency response operations supporting Gaza.
Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support the Operations Support and Logistics (OSL) Egyptian Corridor Team in delivering essential administrative, procurement, supply chain, and logistics services for WHO's emergency response operations in Gaza. This role is vital for ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of life-saving medical supplies and assistance in a rapidly evolving environment. The position contributes directly to WHO's mission of coordinating international action to prevent, prepare for, detect, respond to, and recover from health emergencies, strengthening health services and addressing public health challenges.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the coordination and implementation of supply chain and logistics operations, including the reception, storage, transportation, and delivery of essential medical supplies from Egypt to Gaza. This involves warehouse management, inventory tracking, and coordination with local suppliers and partners for cross-border logistics. The role includes facilitating procurement processes, supporting the development of Long-Term Agreements (LTAs), and engaging with local suppliers. Additionally, the volunteer will provide administrative and financial support, including assisting the advance cash custodian and processing invoices, while maintaining operational documentation and reporting on gaps or risks. Coordination with various partners like the Egyptian Red Crescent and OCHA for border-crossing arrangements is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience in administration, procurement, supply chain management, and logistics operations within international organizations or institutions is required. Experience in field emergency operations is essential. Prior experience with WHO/UN, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations, or international NGOs is highly desirable. Knowledge of procurement systems (ERP/GSM), import/export procedures, and strong organizational and coordination skills are advantageous.
