Job Purpose
This role supports the Future Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme in Syria, implemented by UNDP ICPSD's SDG AI Lab. The programme aims to equip Syrian youth with advanced digital skills in areas like AI, machine learning, and data science, focusing on climate resilience. The assignment involves updating and potentially delivering Python training modules, demonstrating practical coding skills, and providing student support. The goal is to build local capacity, foster innovation, and create employment pathways for youth in a fragile context by linking technology training to urgent climate challenges, thereby strengthening resilience and opening future-oriented opportunities.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will update existing Python course materials, exercises, and assignments to align with Climate Resilience best practices. They will be prepared to deliver the "Applied Python for Engineering & Climate Systems" course (16 hours over 2 weeks) if needed, demonstrating practical skills through live coding sessions. The volunteer will also provide pre-recorded demos for sessions and host office hours for student questions and assignment assistance, including evening and weekend sessions. The specific workload will be discussed with the selected volunteers.
Work Experience
Required experience includes advanced proficiency in Python programming and strong software development and problem-solving skills, enabling the creation of clean, efficient, and maintainable code. Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or instructional experience is considered a plus.
