Adolescent and Youth Coordinator

Job Purpose
The Adolescent and Youth Coordinator will provide crucial technical assistance to UNICEF Viet Nam's cross-sectoral Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP) initiatives. This role supports the implementation of programs like UPSHIFT and the Generation Unlimited agenda, aiming to strengthen youth engagement and programming. The coordinator will help foster strategic connections with youth-led groups and organizations, contribute to resource mobilization, and enhance the operations of the ADAP Working Group. The ultimate goal is to advance adolescent development and youth engagement, ensuring young people are drivers of social and economic progress in Viet Nam, in line with UNICEF's mandate and the 2030 Agenda.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Adolescents and Youth Engagement Officer, the Adolescent and Youth Coordinator will provide technical assistance for the implementation of key youth programs such as UPSHIFT and the Youth-led Action Initiative. Responsibilities include exploring feasibility, designing programmatic approaches, and supporting the implementation of the Generation Unlimited agenda and Public-Private-Youth Partnership model. The role involves providing technical assistance for cross-sectoral ADAP initiatives, nurturing connections with youth-led groups and networks, and supporting the operations and resource mobilization efforts of the ADAP Working Group. Additionally, the coordinator is encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate, promoting volunteerism and engaging with communities, including knowledge sharing and contributing to UNV publications.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required in youth engagement, adolescent participation, programme management, and community building. Experience with youth empowerment initiatives, organizing complex events, and working with young people at the grassroots level is beneficial. Experience with international organizations like UNICEF/UN or with regional/global youth networks is also advantageous. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with computer literacy, are essential.

Key competencies include accountability, adaptability, flexibility, creativity, judgment, decision-making, planning, organizing, professionalism, and self-management. Essential skills encompass communication, community development, and development programme expertise. Proficiency in English and Vietnamese is also required.
