Job Purpose
This position supports UNICEF's Communication section in Benin by enhancing external visibility for the organization's programs and sections. The Social Media and Digital Content Officer will manage the organization's social media platforms daily, produce creative content, and oversee editorial publications. The role contributes to highlighting UNICEF's results, promoting its actions, managing institutional requests, and ensuring timely production and dissemination of content. The objective is to strengthen UNICEF's online presence and engagement to better advocate for vulnerable children and adolescents in Benin.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Communication, Advocacy, and Youth Engagement, the UNV Social Media and Digital Content Officer will manage daily social media platforms, produce creative content, and oversee editorial publications. Key responsibilities include: Editorial Management and Platform Animation: Administering official social media accounts, scheduling posts, writing engaging captions and calls-to-action, and professionally moderating comments. Content Creation: Designing visual and graphic materials aligned with institutional identity, capturing photos and videos during activities, performing simple video editing for social media, and developing compelling narratives showcasing results and initiatives. Monitoring and Innovation: Tracking digital communication trends, identifying innovative content formats and campaigns, and preparing concise trend reports with improvement suggestions. Newsletter and Targeted Diffusion: Developing a newsletter schedule, collecting and editing content, and managing distribution and performance tracking. Coordination and Institutional Follow-up: Gathering content needs from program sections, tracking visibility requests from donors and partners, and managing requests from headquarters and regional offices. Event Coverage and Deadline Management: Maintaining an event coverage schedule, preparing content in advance, and ensuring timely delivery of communication products.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of relevant professional experience in community management, digital communication, or content management. Proven experience in web writing and managing institutional social media is essential. Experience in photography, videography, content design, and event coverage is desirable. Experience within an international organization, institution, development sector, or NGO is an asset.
Skills
Excellent command of social media platforms and their editorial codes. Strong writing skills in French; English proficiency is an asset. Proficiency in graphic design, layout, and simple editing tools. Ability to capture photos and videos for digital use. Familiarity with office and editorial planning tools. Capacity to analyze digital statistics and produce clear summaries. Aptitude for information monitoring and trend identification. Key competencies include creativity, initiative, organization, planning, prioritization, reactivity, autonomy, teamwork, rigor, reliability, and adaptability.
