Job Purpose
This UNV assignment supports the implementation of UNICEF Sri Lanka's Sustainability and Climate Action Plan and related WASH & Climate Change projects. The role involves coordinating and communicating program activities, assisting with logistics for meetings and training, and supporting administrative tasks. The incumbent will liaise with government ministries, climate actors, and the UNICEF regional office to ensure effective project execution. The position contributes to UNICEF's goal of protecting children's rights and ensuring they can withstand challenges and leverage opportunities in a rapidly changing world, fostering an environment where every child can learn, play, and grow.
Responsibilities
Assist in coordinating and supporting the logistics for program activities, including meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Provide support in taking minutes and preparing reports for meetings, workshops, and field visits. Coordinate with partners to monitor the progress of annual work plan activities and budget spending, organizing review meetings with government agencies. Follow up with various UNICEF sections (Education, Communications, H&N, SBC, DRR, Social Policy, Child Protection) on joint work plan implementation and organize relevant meetings. Coordinate with HR, IT, Admin, and Supply sections for necessary supplies and logistics, providing data and information. Act as a focal point for administrative coordination of WASH and Climate Change projects, initiating requests, obtaining clearances, and processing administrative actions. Participate in meetings and workshops, assisting in coordinating implementation activities with government partners, UN agencies, local authorities, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in environment, climate change, development studies, or related programs. Experience with development agencies, the UN, or other international development organizations is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, database management, and office technology is required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines is essential.
