Job Purpose

This UNV assignment supports the implementation of UNICEF Sri Lanka's Sustainability and Climate Action Plan and related WASH & Climate Change projects. The role involves coordinating and communicating program activities, assisting with logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and training sessions. The incumbent will support progress monitoring, budget tracking, and follow-up with various sections and government ministries. This position is crucial for administrative coordination of climate and environment-related projects, ensuring smooth implementation and effective engagement with diverse stakeholders, contributing to the overall goal of creating a sustainable environment for children.

Responsibilities

Assist in coordinating and supporting the logistics for program activities, including meetings, workshops, and training. Prepare minutes and reports for meetings, workshops, and field visits. Coordinate with partners to monitor the progress of annual work plan implementation and budget spending, organizing review meetings. Follow up with relevant UNICEF sections (Education, Communications, H&N, SBC, DRR, Social Policy, Child Protection) on joint work plans and organize meetings. Liaise with HR, IT, Admin, and Supply sections for necessary resources and logistics. Act as a focal point for administrative coordination of WASH and Climate Change projects, managing requests, clearances, and documentation. Participate in meetings and workshops, assisting in coordinating implementation activities with government partners, UN agencies, local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

Work Experience

Requires 3 years of relevant experience in environment, climate change, development studies, or similar programs. Experience with development agencies, the UN, or international organizations is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management, and office technology is essential. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to challenging environments is required.
