This role is within the Regional Communication and Advocacy team, dedicated to shaping narratives, safeguarding the UNICEF brand, and garnering support for children's causes through strategic communication and public engagement.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNICEF's Asia Pacific Communication and Advocacy team by managing the regional website and social media platforms (Facebook, X, YouTube). The incumbent will implement an integrated digital communication strategy to showcase the needs and work of children in the region. Key responsibilities include creating engaging content, managing website updates, monitoring social media, and analyzing performance metrics. The goal is to enhance UNICEF's brand visibility, strengthen advocacy efforts, and build partnerships by effectively communicating the organization's impact and the voices of children.
Responsibilities
The Digital Communication Officer will manage the regional website (unicef.org/asia-pacific), producing and editing web content with SEO/AGO/AEO best practices and Drupal CMS. This includes updating the homepage and key institutional pages, ensuring accuracy and relevance, and analyzing website analytics to improve user experience. Daily management of social media channels (Facebook, X, YouTube) involves developing weekly plans, drafting and scheduling content, community management, and social media listening to monitor brand risks and identify engagement opportunities. A significant part of the role (50%) involves content production for web and social media, including conceptualizing and creating video, visuals, captions, infographics, and human interest stories in collaboration with advocacy specialists. The role also includes running capacity-building sessions for staff, staying updated on digital trends, supporting influencer engagement, and assisting with donor visibility and digital asset management.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience in communication is required, with at least two years focused on digital media. Experience in all aspects of digital content production (video, graphic design, copywriting, marketing, monitoring), content management systems (like Drupal/WordPress), and digital analytics tools is essential. Familiarity with SEO/AEO/AGO best practices and current digital communication trends is also necessary.
