Organizational Context

Empower and Care Organisation (EACO) is dedicated to reducing poverty and the impact of HIV/AIDS by fostering economic empowerment and educational opportunities for disadvantaged groups. Their work focuses on vulnerable women, including widows and those living with HIV/AIDS, as well as children, youth, and the elderly. EACO believes in sustainable development through empowerment programs that equip community members with the skills and support needed to improve their lives and communities.

Job Purpose

This role supports EACO's mission by assisting in the search for and development of grant proposals. The volunteer will collaborate with the project coordinator to identify relevant funding opportunities and prepare compelling applications, ensuring EACO can meet submission deadlines. The primary goal is to secure funding that enables EACO to expand its programs aimed at poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS mitigation, economic empowerment, and educational support for vulnerable populations in Uganda. The contribution is crucial for the organization's continued operation and growth.

Responsibilities

The online volunteer will assist the project coordinator in identifying and searching for suitable grant applications aligned with EACO's objectives. Key responsibilities include collaborating on the development of grant proposals, ensuring all necessary components are included and well-articulated. The volunteer will work closely with the project coordinator to refine proposals before submission, contributing to the organization's fundraising efforts. While the volunteer will not directly submit applications, their input is vital in preparing them to meet deadlines and enhance the chances of securing funding for EACO's vital community programs.

Work Experience

While extensive experience is not a primary requirement, candidates should possess skills in searching for and writing grant applications or proposals. Experience in fundraising is desirable. The ability to understand and execute the tasks related to grant acquisition is more important than a long history of formal work.

Skills

Proficiency in searching for grant opportunities and writing grant proposals is essential. Fundraising skills are desirable. The volunteer should demonstrate a strong understanding of the grant application process and be able to work collaboratively with the project coordinator. A working knowledge of English is also required.
