Job Purpose
This UNV assignment supports UNICEF's Resilience flagship programming in Benin, specifically in northern departments affected by the Sahel security crisis. The role involves coordinating a resilience and nutrition project, contributing to overall strategic and operational resilience work, and facilitating intersectoral and multisectoral coordination under the Deputy Representative. The UNV will collaborate with UNICEF sectors, external stakeholders, the government of Benin, CSOs, and NGOs. Key accountabilities include programme planning, design, implementation, and administration of specific projects aligned with UNICEF's Country Programme Recommendation and Management Plan, focusing on achieving UNICEF's priorities.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will manage programmes through data collection, analysis, and reporting, contributing to knowledge management and participation in corporate databases. Responsibilities include supporting programme development by contributing to situation analyses and administering monitoring systems to analyze socio-political-economic trends. The role involves managing programme funds, ensuring efficient allocation, disbursement, monitoring, and liquidation, and optimizing fund usage for effective delivery. Programme monitoring and evaluation will be conducted through field visits and participation in evaluation exercises, with a focus on improving quality and efficiency. The UNV will ensure rights-based and results-based programme management, providing recommendations for project implementation and resource utilization. Capacity building and sustainability will be supported through technical guidance to government authorities and partners. Advocacy for children's and women's rights will be conducted through policy analysis and dialogue. Finally, the UNV will develop partnerships and collaborate with internal and external counterparts, including UN agencies and national partners, to enhance data dissemination, programme coordination, and financial management.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required, with 4 years preferred. Experience in humanitarian or development programming is essential. Experience with donor conditions from Germany is a strong asset. Familiarity with UN agencies or international NGOs, particularly UNICEF systems for donor relations and reporting, is desirable. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and have previous experience with multi-sectoral proposals and teamwork.
