Job Purpose
This research assignment aims to provide an independent, evidence-based analysis of the potential public health implications arising from U.S. travel restrictions affecting multiple countries. The research will examine the consequences for populations within the United States and the broader effects on health systems and populations in affected countries and globally. The findings will be instrumental in developing policy briefs, supporting evidence-based advocacy, and advancing CIFDH/DD's mission to promote public policies that ensure human rights, health equity, and robust international cooperation in global health.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will contribute to a study on the public health implications of U.S. travel restrictions. Key responsibilities include defining research questions, scope, and methodology for desk reviews. This involves identifying, collecting, and critically reviewing relevant sources such as scientific publications, international organization reports, policy documents, and statistical databases. The volunteer will analyze the impacts of travel restrictions on public health within the U.S., including scientific collaboration, healthcare workforce mobility, medical research, disease surveillance, and emergency preparedness. Additionally, the role involves examining global consequences for international health cooperation, health equity, and governance. The volunteer will prepare analytical notes and contribute to drafting a research report and a policy brief with evidence-based findings and recommendations.
Work Experience
Candidates must possess excellent skills in literature review, critical analysis, and academic/policy writing. Experience in global public health, health policy, international relations, migration, human rights, sustainable development, or epidemiology/social science research is highly desirable. Prior experience in drafting research reports or policy briefs is considered an asset.

Desirable competencies encompass knowledge or experience in global public health, health policy and systems, international relations, migration and human mobility, human rights, sustainable development, and epidemiology or social science research.
