Digitalización de materiales comunitarios sobre salud y prevención del VIH
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication, reducing inequalities, and building resilience to support sustainable development. In Venezuela, UNDP supports initiatives related to HIV prevention, health promotion, and human rights. This involves strengthening knowledge management and preserving valuable materials developed by community organizations, many of which exist only in hard-to-access formats.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to strengthen knowledge management and preserve materials developed by community organizations in Venezuela focused on HIV prevention, health promotion, and human rights. The volunteer will contribute to making these valuable resources, including manuals, educational guides, and training materials, more accessible. By digitizing and organizing existing content, the volunteer will facilitate its future use in training, research, and capacity-building processes, thereby preserving the historical memory of community responses to HIV in Venezuela and ensuring the continued relevance of these educational tools.
Responsibilities
Volunteers will support the digitalization and preservation of educational materials created by civil society organizations involved in health promotion and the HIV response in Venezuela. The primary focus will be digitizing the booklet 'Aprendiendo juntas sobre nuestra sexualidad, salud y cuerpo,' an educational tool for enhancing knowledge on sexuality, self-care, sexual and reproductive health, STI prevention, and rights. This includes transcribing scanned documents into editable formats (PDF to Word), organizing textual and visual content, reviewing the quality of digitized files, and validating transcribed information. AI and OCR tools may be used, but a comparative review against the original document is essential to ensure accuracy, correct transcription errors, and maintain fidelity. This contribution will preserve educational resources and community experiences vital to Venezuela's HIV response history.
Work Experience
While specific years of experience are not detailed, excellent Spanish writing and reading comprehension are required. Experience in transcription, document digitalization, text correction, or document quality control is valued. Familiarity with public health, HIV, human rights, community development, or knowledge management is beneficial but not mandatory.
Skills
Key skills include excellent Spanish writing and reading comprehension, meticulous attention to detail for identifying transcription errors, proficiency with document editing tools like Microsoft Word or Google Docs, and the ability to systematically organize and review information. A strong interest in public health, HIV, human rights, community development, or knowledge management is also desirable.
