The UNV Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) is enhancing its strategic communications to increase the visibility and impact of UN initiatives across the region. This involves supporting the creation and refinement of editorial content that highlights the work of UN entities, partners, and volunteers.

Job Purpose

The Online Volunteer will support the UNV Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) in strengthening its strategic communications. The primary purpose is to contribute to the development and refinement of editorial content, including articles, success stories, and human-interest pieces, for digital platforms. This content will highlight the work of UN entities, partners, and volunteers in the region, reflecting volunteerism's values and UN Volunteers' contributions to sustainable development. The role is crucial for showcasing ongoing initiatives and thematic areas like gender equality and youth empowerment, ensuring alignment with UNV's editorial standards and messaging, and amplifying the impact of UN initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will draft, edit, and proofread editorial content for UNV's digital platforms, including articles, success stories, and social media copy. This content will focus on highlighting the impact of UN Volunteers and key regional initiatives, ensuring alignment with UNV’s strategic messaging and editorial standards. The role aims to amplify youth voices, showcase UN Volunteer stories globally, and build connections within the UNV network in Latin America and the Caribbean. The volunteer will enhance their storytelling, writing, and community engagement skills, with contributions featured on UNV's digital platforms.

Work Experience

Strong writing skills are required, with the ability to craft compelling, first-person narratives. Previous experience in storytelling, journalism, or content creation is considered an asset. A deep understanding of the cultural, social, and political context of Latin America and the Caribbean is also beneficial.

Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish are essential. Strong writing and storytelling abilities are required to craft compelling narratives. Cultural awareness of the Latin America and Caribbean region is important. The role also involves content creation and community engagement.
