Associate - External Relations
Organizational Context
The UNHCR office in Jordan, established in 1950, leads international efforts to protect refugees and resolve global refugee issues, safeguarding their rights and well-being. In Jordan, UNHCR supports WASH services for over 400,000 refugees, primarily Syrian, coordinating with government and partners. The current context involves a new phase in the refugee response, with decreasing funding and a dual challenge of maintaining essential services while supporting voluntary returns and sustainable approaches. Strategic donor engagement and high-impact programming are critical.
Job Purpose
The Associate - External Relations will play a crucial role in supporting UNHCR's engagement with donor governments, including Spain, within the External Relations Unit in Amman. The position aims to sustain donor confidence and enable continued support for refugees and host communities in Jordan during a period of increasing constraints and shifting priorities. This involves contributing to the development of high-quality donor products such as proposals, reports, and briefs, strengthening visibility and communication efforts, monitoring funding trends, and facilitating strategic donor missions. By translating operational realities into clear, evidence-based narratives and highlighting funding opportunities, the role directly contributes to securing vital resources for UNHCR's operations.
Responsibilities

Coordinating with UNHCR sections and field offices to gather, verify, and systematize information for internal and external reporting.
Researching and reviewing information from diverse sources to support evidence-based reporting and analysis.
Performing other related duties as required.
A work plan with objectives and regular check-ins will be established in the first month.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required, but demonstrated interest and/or up to two years of experience in external relations, partnerships, and donor engagement is beneficial. Experience in drafting donor reports, proposals, and briefing materials, building stakeholder relations, and communicating complex information clearly is advantageous. Familiarity with budget management, tracking funding, understanding humanitarian issues, and a proactive, team-oriented approach are also valuable.
