Regional Programme Associate
Organizational Context
The Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS) supports the Arab States region in achieving sustainable development, poverty eradication, and resilience building, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and UNDP's Strategic Plan. The Amman Regional Hub manages regional initiatives focusing on governance, poverty reduction, knowledge economy, peacebuilding, climate security, youth, gender equality, and resilience. The Regional Programme team in Amman coordinates these efforts, ensuring effective programme management and coherence across initiatives.
Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer Regional Programme Associate will support the effective delivery of the Regional Programme for Arab States (2026-2029). This role focuses on enhancing programme coordination, planning, research, implementation, and reporting. The Associate will assist the Regional Programme Team in strengthening coordination and coherence across projects, contributing to the planning and organization of activities, and supporting monitoring and quality assurance processes. The position is crucial for ensuring results-driven implementation and contributing to the programme's overall success in advancing regional development priorities.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the Regional Programme Manager in advancing programme priorities. Key responsibilities include:
Programme Management Support: Assisting the team in strengthening coordination, oversight, and coherence across projects; contributing to the planning and organization of programme activities, meetings, and events; and supporting monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance processes for results-driven implementation.
Knowledge Management & Research: Identifying and synthesizing lessons learned and best practices; conducting desk research on thematic areas like inclusive growth, governance, and green economy; contributing to analytical reports and policy briefs; and developing knowledge products for internal and external dissemination.
Partnership Building & Communication: Supporting the preparation of communication materials for senior management and partners; contributing to partner identification and outreach; assisting in preparing partnership proposals; and supporting the organization of outreach events and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Work Experience
While no prior experience is strictly required, demonstrated interest and/or up to two years of experience in programme planning, coordination, and oversight within a development or public sector context is highly desirable. Experience in policy research, data collection and analysis, and knowledge management is also beneficial. Familiarity with MS Office and online research tools is expected.
