Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Lebanon aims to coordinate the UN Country Team (UNCT) to deliver a unified response to national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It focuses on strategic planning, development economics, partnerships, data management, and communications. The UNCT comprises 26 UN agencies, funds, and programmes, led by the Resident Coordinator, to enhance impact on development, reduce inequalities, fight poverty, and address climate change challenges within Lebanon.
Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer assignment will support the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Lebanon to strengthen joint UN activities aligned with the 2030 Agenda and national priorities. The role involves supporting the coordination of inter-agency Results Groups and the Youth Task Force, contributing to joint programmes, and ensuring government involvement in development discussions. A key focus will be on improving disability inclusion by coordinating efforts among UN entities, persons with disabilities, government, and NGOs, and supporting the implementation of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. The position also entails supporting internal and external reporting, data collection, and facilitating RCO meetings and events.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of RCO, the UN Volunteer will coordinate inter-agency Results Groups and the Youth Task Force, representing the RCO, supporting group priorities, and contributing to joint programmes. Responsibilities include supporting government representation in these groups. The role also involves enhancing disability inclusion by supporting the UN Disability Inclusion Working Group, ensuring coordination among stakeholders, and following up on the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. Additionally, the volunteer will support RCO reporting, including data collection for surveys and internal mappings. This includes facilitating, preparing, and documenting meetings, workshops, and events, as well as supporting research and strategic planning initiatives. A work plan with clear objectives and regular check-ins will be established during the first month.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably within the UN or other development organizations. Experience in coordination and managing a large number of stakeholders is considered an asset. Proficiency in MS Office applications, database management, and office technology is expected. The role requires excellent oral and written communication, drafting, and reporting skills, along with strong interpersonal skills for inclusive and collaborative work.
